Situated in Nusa Tenggara Barat, Lombok isn’t just famous for its beautiful tropical beaches, but also its magnificent waterfalls, that still remain a mystery to many visitors of this enchanting Indonesian island. This may be partly due to their secluded locations and the off-the-beaten-track waterfall trails. However, don’t let this stop you from discovering some of Indonesia’s best natural gems – in fact, their hidden locations and adventurous trails are precisely why visiting these best waterfalls in Lombok should be at the top of your vacation list!

During your journey, expect to be surrounded by lush forests, scenic views and a tranquil atmosphere, making the trek to the waterfalls totally worth it. Also, with Lombok’s tourism sector now undergoing significant development, it’s even easier to explore these stunning natural wonders! Let’s dive into the best of Lombok’s waterfalls one-by-one.

1. Tiu Kelep Waterfall

Tiu Kelep Waterfall is a breathtaking sight that attracts adventure seekers and nature lovers all around the world. Getting there involves a scenic walk through dense forests, where you can soak-up the area’s diverse plant and animal life. Tiu Kelep is a powerful waterfall, rising to 42m in height. As you approach closer, the sound of the rushing water gets louder, building-up the excitement before you’re treated to the impressive waterfall panoramas, surrounded by lush greenery. Bring a picnic, relax with a book, enjoy the cool spray or even go for a swim in the clear waters. Whatever you choose to do, a visit to Tiu Kelep is a complete experience full of natural beauty and serenity.

2. Sendang Gile Waterfall

A waterfall, one of the best waterfalls in Lombok, cascades over a rocky cliff surrounded by lush green vegetation in a forest.

Often overshadowed by its more famous neighbour (Tiu Kelep), Sendang Gile is definitely worth a visit in its own right. Whilst you’re heading to Tiu Kelep Waterfall, you’ll actually pass this particular waterfall on the way. You can hike down from the main road in about 10 minutes without a guide, but many tours already include this spot in their packages with Tiu Kelep Waterfall. You can also pay a local guide to show you the way for about IDR 50,000, however it’s not hard to reach it on your own.

3. Tiu Teja Waterfall

A path leads through dense foliage towards a twin waterfall, considered one of the best waterfalls in Lombok, surrounded by lush green jungle plants and trees.

This one is more of a straight-forward trek than Tiu Kelep Waterfall, in fact its easy access means that it’s a popular hangout spot for kids and teenagers, as well as a peaceful getaway for those craving some alone time surrounded by nature’s beauty. The hike to Tiu Teja leads you through charming forest paths. When you finally arrive at the waterfall, the peacefulness of the area and the calming sound of the water will definitely charm your soul.

4. Benang Stokel and Kelambu Waterfall

A lush, green landscape in Lombok showcases one of the best waterfalls, cascading gracefully over rocks and dense foliage into a serene pool below.

Get ready for double the fun with the ultimate twin waterfall experience of Benang Stokel and Kelambu Waterfall in North Lombok! Benang Stokel wows visitors with its single, spellbinding cascade, whilst the mighty Kelambu Waterfall rocks-out with its multiple streams. In this peaceful oasis, you’ll be treated to the distinct beauty of both waterfalls, doubling the fun and the adventure. Get your camera ready, because this is a holiday spot that you won’t want to forget!

5. Mangku Sakti Waterfall

A waterfall, considered one of the best waterfalls in Lombok, cascades down a rocky cliff surrounded by lush greenery, with a serene pool of water at the base.

The falls are located just to the northeast of Mount Rinjani National Park, about an hour’s drive from Senaru. It’s not possible to reach the waterfall by car, so you can either walk from Sajang Village which takes about an hour and 20-minutes, or use a 4Ɨ4 or dirt-bike to ride to the parking lot, then trek for another 20-minutes. Due to its more remote location, you’ll most likely see a lot less tourists here than at Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep. While the waterfall is picturesque, it’s the beautiful rock formations that are the real star here. In the dry season, the water has a milky-blue appearance, which is a beautiful contrast against the grey rocks. You can swim at Mangku Sakti Waterfall, so be sure to bring your bathing suit for a well-deserved cool-down after all that adventuring!

6. Kerta Gangga Waterfall

Considered one of the best waterfalls in Lombok, a stunning cascade flows over rocky terrain into a serene green pool surrounded by lush moss and foliage.

This Lombok waterfall, next to Gangga Village, is worth a look if it’s included in your tour and you feel like enjoying a quick dip. It’s a short, easy walk from the parking lot, so we don’t think it’s necessary to hire a guide. You may be stopped at the entrance and hassled to hire one, and if that’s the case you can offer IDR 100,000 for a group, but anything more really isn’t worth it. Once you climb the slippery steps up to Gangga Waterfall, there is a metal platform that takes you to an upper part of one of the falls where you can swim. You have to hop-over a small dam which, although it looks precarious, is actually very safe. The water is not super-deep and you can swim further back to see another hidden waterfall. Personally, this isn’t our favourite Lombok waterfall, but if you’re nearby then it’s worth a peek.

7. Tiu Frendo Waterfall

A river flows between two lush, green cliffs, with water cascading down in waterfalls surrounded by dense vegetation, reminiscent of the best waterfalls in Lombok.

Tiu Frendo Waterfall is famous for its tall height and thunderous waters. The waters from the top flow down the rocky cliffs, and into a turquoise pool that you can jump into. Sadly, to witness this natural beauty, you need to put the effort in! While offering a scenic route and the opportunity to catch a glimpse of Lombok’s best flora, the trek to Tiu Frendo Waterfall is notoriously challenging. You’re going to face steep routes, arduous climbs and rocky trails – so this is definitely more suited to those with a good level of fitness!

8. Tiu Pupus Waterfall

A person stands on a rock facing a tall waterfall, one of the best waterfalls in Lombok, cascading into a blue pool, surrounded by lush greenery.

Nestled in the lush greenery of North Lombok, Tiu Pupus Waterfall is a hidden treasure just waiting to be found by adventurous explorers. Getting to Tiu Pupus means trekking through breathtaking trails that offer amazing views of the island’s unbridled natural beauty. The waterfall cascade is more elegant, rather than thunderous. Surrounded with lush green scenery, it makes for a calming and peaceful atmosphere, perfect for unwinding and immersing yourself in Lombok’s unspoiled beauty.

9. Batara Lenjang Waterfall

A group of people enjoys one of the best waterfalls in Lombok, surrounded by lush greenery. Some are wading in the water, while others sit on rocks, all under a canopy of dense vegetation.

This destination is located in the Mount Rinjani National Park, Senaru, Bayan, North Lombok. The uniqueness of this natural waterfall is that it is the source of hot spring water, which has crystal-clear visibility. Due to the location being on a climbing route, to get there you have to take the Mount Rinjani hiking trail. If you intend to visit the Batara Lenjang Waterfall, we recommend that you hire an experienced guide for your safety – you’ll find plenty available at the entrance area to the hiking trail.

10. Apeq Stone Waterfall

A waterfall, one of the best waterfalls in Lombok, cascades down a lush green cliff into a rocky stream, surrounded by dense foliage under a clear blue sky.

If you’re looking for an adventure off the beaten path, Batu Apeq Stone Waterfall—also known as Tiu Sampurarung—is the perfect spot. Nestled in Santong Village, Kayangan, just a 75 km drive from Mataram, this hidden gem is the second-highest waterfall in West Nusa Tenggara. Imagine standing beneath a cascade of crystal-clear water that flows straight from Lake Segara Anak, surrounded by lush greenery and cool, refreshing air. It’s the ultimate escape from the tropical heat! Whether you’re up for a refreshing swim, setting up camp for the night, or just soaking in the peaceful vibe, this waterfall is a must-visit.
