The St. Regis Bar Jakarta has introduced a conceptual cocktail experience that transports guests to 1920s New York, a time when jazz, nightlife, and cultural identity were evolving rapidly. Ranked No. 22 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025, the bar reflects the spirit that shaped modern bar culture — improvisation, elegance, rebellion, and vibrant social energy.

The New York-Inspired Cocktails collection presents each drink as a tribute to a key moment in jazz history. Its third volume, launching on January 22, brings legendary stories into every glass. Duke Ellington’s refined musical style is expressed in “Duke of Jazz No.2,” a cognac sour that mirrors his elegant composure. Louis Armstrong’s joyful trumpet sound inspires “Pop’s,” featuring lively bubbles that echo his energetic notes. The secret passwords of The Cotton Club during Prohibition live on in “403 Negroni,” a bold creation reflecting speakeasy culture. The famous dance floor of the Savoy Ballroom is reimagined in “Happy Feet,” a spirited drink full of movement. Al Capone’s time tending bar at Coney Island inspires “Crime-Tender,” recalling the era when strong bootleg gin was blended with fresh ingredients to improve its taste.

“Each cocktail is rooted in a specific jazz figure, venue, or song from that era,” explains Bar Manager Paulo Naranjo, who previously led the bar program at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore, an Asia’s 50 Best Bars alumnus. “We’re translating personality and rhythm into flavor. Duke Ellington’s balance and composure. Benny Goodman’s precision and swing. Ella Fitzgerald’s purity and elegance. Louis Armstrong’s spontaneous genius. The menu functions as a cultural timeline you can taste.“

Other highlights include “The First Lady,” honouring Ella Fitzgerald’s pure voice, “Swinging Benny,” a tribute to Benny Goodman’s precise swing, and “Paper Moon,” inspired by Ella Fitzgerald’s timeless song. This cocktail reimagines the modern classic Paper Plane for dreamers chasing impossible dreams.
