BBTF 2025 Wraps Up with Positive Results and Announces 2026 Theme: A Focus on Indonesian Gastronomy

The 11th Bali & Beyond Travel Fair (BBTF) officially concluded today at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC), Nusa Dua, reaffirming its role as Indonesiaโ€™s top international B2B travel marketplace. This yearโ€™s event gathered 529 buyers from 45 countries and 499 sellers representing destinations from across the archipelago.

During the closing press conference, led by BBTF 2025 Head Committee Chair I Putu Winastra, S.AB, M.A.P., along with buyer, seller, and exhibitor representatives, key milestones and the fairโ€™s strategic impact on Indonesiaโ€™s tourism were highlighted.

โ€œBBTF continues to support Indonesiaโ€™s tourism growth by connecting global markets, strengthening partnerships, and showcasing our rich and diverse destinations,โ€ said Winastra, who also serves as Chairman of ASITA Bali Regional. โ€œThanks to the support from the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Bali Provincial Government, and tourism stakeholders, BBTF remains a key bridge between Indonesia and the world, starting from Bali.โ€

Stronger Results Despite Global Challenges

BBTF 2025 achieved estimated transaction values of IDR 7.84 trillion, a 3% increase from 2024โ€™s IDR 7.61 trillion. Despite challenges such as rising airfare costs affecting travel trends, participation from emerging markets increased, sparking greater demand for destination and product knowledge. In 2026, organizers aim to welcome more sellers from beyond Bali, expanding national representation.

Meaningful B2B Connections

Throughout the three-day event, curated B2B sessions enabled valuable meetings between Indonesian sellers and international buyers.

โ€œThis has been an eye-opening experience to see Indonesia beyond Bali,โ€ shared Sebulon Chiliho Chicalu from Namibia, a first-time buyer. โ€œWeโ€™re excited about opportunities in village and community tourism. BBTF exceeded expectationsโ€”not only in generating business but also in sharing sustainability knowledge. We plan to return with more Namibian operators and foster exchange programs with our Indonesian counterparts.โ€

Seller and Exhibitor Insights

โ€œBBTF pushes us to evolve and meet market expectations. Baliโ€™s global status requires us to refine our competitive edge while encouraging travel beyond the usual tourist areas,โ€ said Ida Ayu Indah Yustikarini, Head of Marketing, Bali Government Tourism Office. โ€œThis fair supports sustainable and quality tourism development.โ€

Ririn Sari Dewi of the East Kalimantan Tourism Office added: โ€œBBTF is a great platform to promote our natural and cultural assets. Since our participation, we’ve seen increased international interest in East Borneo.โ€

Komang Artana from Cross Hotels noted: โ€œBBTFโ€™s consistency in bringing global buyers builds seller confidence and supports property growth.โ€

Sponsor Support and Long-Term Collaborations

I Gusti Made Sudiarsa, Resort Manager at Bali Tropic Resort & Spa, stated: โ€œBBTF is essential in promoting authentic Balinese culture and connecting with global premium markets.โ€

Christopher Chung, Senior Director of Sales & Distribution (Indonesia & Malaysia) for Marriott Bonvoy, added: โ€œBBTF aligns with our goals of local sustainability and sourcing. Our partnership of five years reflects our shared mission, and we remain committed to supporting this important event.โ€

BBTF 2026: A Culinary Celebration of Indonesia

BBTF 2026 is set for 28โ€“30 May 2026 at BICC, Nusa Dua, and will explore a vibrant new theme:

โ€œRedefining Indonesiaโ€™s Gastronomy Journey: A Celebration of Taste, Culture, and Sustainable Heritageโ€

In 2026, gastronomy will take center stageโ€”highlighting how food connects travelers to the heart of local culture and ecosystems. The event aims to champion culinary tourism that supports biodiversity, uplifts communities, and encourages low-impact, meaningful travel.

โ€œGastronomy is a gateway to understanding heritage and fostering sustainability,โ€ Winastra said. โ€œItโ€™s about connecting people to culture through taste.โ€

A special update for next year: the traditional Tourism Talkshow will be replaced with a more personal Welcome Dinner at The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, providing an elegant and engaging start to the event.
