Marriott Business Council Indonesia Donates Over 5,200 Shoes To Schools and Communities Nationwide

Bali, Indonesia – August 26, 2024 – Marriott Business Council Indonesia, in collaboration with over 70 Marriott hotels and resorts, launched the “Shoes to School” initiative, donating over 5,200 pairs of shoes to children in need across Jakarta, Bali, Lombok, and Labuan Bajo. An additional 2,000 pairs are set to be distributed throughout Indonesia by the end of the project.

Aligned with Marriott’s Serve 360 commitment to sustainable and positive community impact, this annual initiative began in Jakarta in 2006 and expanded significantly. Funding comes from donations and contributions from Marriott associates’ yearly leave, which was converted into funds equivalent to the cost of shoes.

“We are thrilled to see the ‘Shoes to School’ initiative come to life. This program embodies Marriott International’s commitment to being a force for good and making a meaningful change in the communities we serve. It represents our collective effort to make a real difference and underscores our steadfast dedication to fostering positive social impact,” said Martin Ehlers, Chairman of Marriott Business Council Indonesia.
