The SAKA Museum at AYANA Bali is excited to unveil three new exhibitions, offering an immersive exploration of Balinese culture. Opening in early April, after the sacred Nyepi holiday, these exhibitions showcase the island’s rich traditions, deep connection with nature, and spiritual heritage. The new exhibits include:
- Kasanga: Nyepi Exhibition;
- Subak: The Ancient Order of Bali;
- Heritage Gallery: The Five Elements (Panca Maha Bhuta)

These new exhibitions enhance the museum’s existing displays—Sasi Wimba Haneng Gata Poem, Palelintangan: Balinese Astrology, and Ogoh-ogoh: Walking Among Giants—offering a comprehensive insight into Bali’s culture. They explore the island’s traditions, beliefs, and spiritual philosophy, with a focus on Tri Hita Karana, the Balinese principle of harmony between God, nature, and humanity. The exhibitions also showcase renowned Balinese artists, celebrating their creativity and cultural contributions.
A Journey into Bali’s Cultural Heritage

The three exhibitions offer a deep insight into Balinese life. Heritage Gallery: The Five Elements explores the island’s ancient spiritual teachings, while Subak: The Ancient Order of Bali highlights its unique agricultural system and UNESCO-listed water temples. The Kasanga: Nyepi Exhibition provides an immersive look at Bali’s sacred Day of Silence, featuring artworks depicting its various stages. “Through these exhibitions, visitors will gain a deeper appreciation of the role these practices play in daily Balinese life—how they guide spiritual observances, the rhythms of the island, and the collective consciousness of the Balinese people,” said Marlowe Bandem, Executive Advisor of SAKA Museum.
Opened last year, the SAKA Museum quickly became a popular cultural destination, praised for its unique exhibits showcasing Bali’s artistic and spiritual heritage. The new exhibitions complement the existing displays, which have received high ratings on TripAdvisor and Google for their immersive cultural experience.
A Cultural Hub for All

The SAKA Museum aims to be a dynamic cultural hub, connecting locals and visitors to Bali’s heritage. To promote deeper understanding, it offers free educational visits for schools, students, and researchers. These can be arranged in advance by emailing rsvp@sakamuseum.org.
“We want SAKA Museum to be a place of connection, where people from all walks of life can come together to celebrate and learn about Bali’s traditions,” said Dr Judith Bosnak, Director of SAKA Museum. “By collaborating with local schools, we’re helping ensure that future generations of Balinese are not only educated about their heritage but also inspired to carry it forward.”
