Party like there IS a tomorrow: How FINNS is giving back to Bali while keeping the good times rolling

Cocktails by the pool. Epic sunsets. World-class DJs. NYE parties that go down in Bali history. That’s the FINNS everyone knows. But behind the scenes, there’s another story worth talking about.

Under its “Party Like There Is a Tomorrow” commitment, FINNS Beach Club is proving that unforgettable holidays and responsible tourism really can go hand-in-hand, with new figures revealing the impact of its environmental and community initiatives across Bali.

From diverting 94% of its waste from landfill to supporting more than 1,000 Balinese young people and helping fund Bali’s first dedicated Search & Rescue helicopter, FINNS is showing that great parties don’t have to come at the planet’s expense.

Party Like There Is a Tomorrow

For FINNS, sustainability isn’t about ticking boxes or running one-off campaigns. It’s about making meaningful changes that have a lasting impact on Bali, its people and its environment.

As FINNS ESG spokesperson Abdul Manaf explains, “Bali is our home, and with the opportunity to operate here comes a responsibility to contribute positively to its people, environment and future. Our approach is to identify where we can make a meaningful difference, work with experienced local partners and measure the results over time.”

Turning Waste Into Something Better

Here’s a statistic that’s worth celebrating… Today, 94% of FINNS’ waste is diverted away from landfill, with just 6% ending up as landfill waste. Instead, materials are carefully sorted and redirected into recycling programmes, composting and even animal feed, with the long-term goal of reducing landfill waste even further to just 5%.

The venue also said goodbye to single-use plastics and now works alongside sustainability partners including Plastic Bank, EcoBali Recycle, Urban Compost and Community Waste Project to keep waste out of Bali’s environment. Even old staff uniforms are getting a second life thanks to a new partnership with I Am Sustainable Studio, which transforms retired uniforms into brand-new products. Not bad for yesterday’s shirt.

Helping Bali’s Next Generation Thrive

Looking after Bali also means investing in the people who call it home. Since 2023, FINNS has partnered with Stella’s Child, supporting underprivileged Balinese children and young adults through education, life-skills training, entrepreneurship and employment pathways.

So far, the programme has supported 1,038 children and young people, while FINNS continues to fund education and training opportunities for 255 children every year.

The impact goes beyond the classroom too, with graduates able to join the FINNS trainee programme. Four Stella’s Child graduates are now proudly part of the FINNS team.

According to Manaf, “Education is most powerful when it leads to genuine opportunity. Our aim is to help young people develop the confidence, skills and experience they need to build sustainable futures.”

Supporting Bali When It Matters Most

One of FINNS’ biggest investments doesn’t involve beach clubs at all. The company is the primary funder behind the FINNS Search & Rescue Helicopter, operated with SGI Air Bali and coordinated alongside Indonesia’s national search and rescue agency, BASARNAS.

Based in Benoa, the Bell 412EP helicopter is equipped for emergency rescue operations across Bali and neighbouring islands, with a 550-kilometre operating radius, plus winch, hoist and stretcher capabilities.

Even better? Guests can help support the service simply by purchasing selected FINNS drinks and entertainment packages, helping keep this life-saving operation in the air.

As Manaf says, “The helicopter is an example of tourism helping fund infrastructure that can support both the Balinese community and visitors to the region.”

It’s the Little Things That Add Up

The impact doesn’t stop there. Every day, FINNS teams are out cleaning Bali’s beaches, while monthly community clean-ups help keep local coastlines looking their best.

The business also operates the free FINNS Loop shuttle service, used by around 30,000 passengers every year, supports weekly Balinese dance classes with Tibubeneng Village, runs environmental education programmes with local schools, partners with the East Bali Poverty Project to improve water, food security and resilience for 1,509 residents in Desa Ban, and recently helped build new sanitation facilities for almost 300 students and staff at SDN 3 Tibubeneng.

It’s proof that making a difference isn’t always about one big initiative – sometimes it’s lots of small ones working together.

More Than Just a Beach Club

FINNS may be famous for unforgettable beach days, but these initiatives show the team is equally committed to helping protect the island that makes those experiences possible.

As Manaf puts it, “Responsibility is not a destination or a marketing message. It is an ongoing commitment to listening, improving and ensuring Bali benefits from the tourism industry it supports.”

So next time you’re sipping a cocktail, dancing by the ocean or watching another famous FINNS sunset, you can do it knowing there’s plenty happening behind the scenes too.

Because at FINNS, the party doesn’t stop today – it just makes sure there’s a tomorrow to celebrate as well.
