The vibrant Labuan Bajo Waterfront Festival 2024 has taken over the stunning coastal town of Labuan Bajo, running from November 15–30. Hosted by Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo with support from local and regional authorities, this annual event has transformed the town into a hub of culture, creativity, and celebration.

Now in its third year, the festival has drawn locals and visitors alike with an exciting lineup of events that showcase the richness of Flores culture. Highlights include the bustling Bazaar at The Promenade, a lively Fashion Competition, Labuan Bajo’s Got Talent, and thrilling contests in singing, food plating, and even fishing. For coffee enthusiasts, the Latte Art Championship and Sopixology sessions have been major crowd-pleasers.
The festivities began with a colourful fun walk carnival, where participants donned traditional Manggarai attire, setting the tone for the festival’s cultural flair. Beyond the entertainment, the opening ceremony reflected the festival’s commitment to community care, offering free medical check-ups and hosting a donation drive for victims of the Lewotobi volcanic eruption.

Throughout the event, attendees have been treated to artistic showcases, including an exhibition by Videoge Arts & Society and rare personal collections from Acting Regent Ondy Christian Siagian, displayed at the Meruorah hotel lobby. Cultural workshops, such as weaving demonstrations and the fascinating local tradition of reading coffee grounds, have offered visitors deeper insights into Manggarai’s heritage.
Evenings have been especially magical, with performances of traditional dances like the Caci and Rangkuk Alu, accompanied by the soothing sounds of the Sasando, against the backdrop of breathtaking sunsets. For those seeking tranquillity, yoga sessions have provided a serene escape amidst the excitement.

Supported by a host of sponsors, including Bank BCA, Aqua, and Batavia Whisky, the Labuan Bajo Waterfront Festival has been a resounding success, blending entertainment, cultural appreciation, and community engagement. As the festival enters its final days, it continues to bring people together and highlight the extraordinary potential of Flores as a cultural and tourism destination.
For those lucky enough to attend, the Labuan Bajo Waterfront Festival 2024 has been a celebration to remember, leaving an indelible mark on both the local community and its visitors.
