Accor has officially opened Grand Mercure Batam Centre, marking the brand’s debut in this key Indonesian city. Known for blending local heritage with modern comfort, Grand Mercure invites guests to experience Batam through a cultural lens, where thoughtful design, regional flavours, and warm hospitality come together.

Conveniently located just five minutes from Batam Centre International Ferry Terminal—connecting to Singapore and Malaysia—and close to One Batam Mall, the hotel is ideal for both business and leisure travellers. It features 230 rooms and suites, inspired by Batam’s coastal scenery and the natural shapes of sea-worn stones.

“The opening of Grand Mercure Batam Centre strengthens our presence in a key gateway city for regional travel,” said Garth Simmons, Chief Operating Officer, Premium, Midscale & Economy Division, Asia, Accor. “Batam continues to evolve as a vibrant leisure and business destination, and we are proud to introduce a hotel that blends modern comfort with authentic local experiences. This opening reaffirms our commitment to cultural resonance and hospitality excellence across Indonesia.”

The hotel’s design pays tribute to the Riau Islands’ culture, featuring traditional Batik Gonggong patterns in staff uniforms and soft island music in public areas for a strong sense of place.

Dining options include Ambrosia, the all-day restaurant serving Batam favourites such as Mie Tarempa and Luti Gendang, and Celeste Café and Lounge, offering light snacks and drinks by the pool. Leisure facilities include a swimming pool, kids’ club, spa, and fitness centre.

For events, the hotel offers flexible venues, including the Rarantira Grand Ballroom, one of the largest in Batam, hosting up to 1,200 guests with a pillarless design and seven-metre ceilings. Additional meeting rooms feature natural light and modern tech, perfect for conferences, weddings, and social functions.
