Gran Meliá Jakarta is introducing its Mid-Autumn Signature Mooncake Collection, blending tradition, flavour, and artistry. Available exclusively at the hotel’s Cantonese restaurant, Tien Chao, Jakarta, the collection features a refined selection of flavours that combine cultural heritage with modern elegance for the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Presented in a bespoke gold-and-soft-pink hamper, the design symbolises prosperity, happiness, beauty, and affection—reflecting the joy of reuniting with loved ones.
The creations are guided by Executive Chef David Marteau, who has over 20 years of culinary experience in China, and General Manager Jeronimo Molina, who spent six years living there. Their shared expertise ensures each mooncake is both a gourmet treat and a tribute to Chinese cultural traditions, elevated with contemporary finesse.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, symbolises reunion and prosperity, with the full moon representing completeness. Traditionally, mooncakes are shared as gifts of love and blessings.
This year, Gran Meliá Jakarta pays tribute to that heritage with a collection that blends classic tradition and modern taste. Responding to a growing preference for lighter treats, the mooncakes feature reduced sugar while preserving rich, authentic flavours. From time-honoured favourites to creative new pairings, each mooncake is crafted with premium ingredients and artisanal skill, making them an ideal seasonal gift or indulgence.
The 2025 collection offers six distinctive flavours:
- White Lotus & Golden Yolk – Smooth white lotus paste with a single salted egg yolk in a golden crust, symbolising unity and prosperity.
- Pandan Mélange & Melon Seeds – Fragrant pandan paste with roasted melon seeds for a creamy, crunchy balance.
- Red Bean Harmony & Melon Seeds – Velvety red bean paste with nutty melon seeds for a nostalgic, classic taste.
- Durian Indulgence – Rich, creamy durian paste in an aromatic crust, perfect for durian enthusiasts.
- Black Sesame & Walnut Praline – Roasted black sesame with walnut crumble for a deeply satisfying flavour.
- Jasmine Tea & Chestnut Elegance – Jasmine-infused paste with candied chestnut pieces for a delicate, refined finish.
Gran Meliá Jakarta offers its mooncake collection in elegant packaging, perfect for gifting or personal enjoyment. Options include the Harmony Four Mooncake Box at IDR 888,000 nett, ideal for sharing; the Prosperity Duo Mooncake Box at IDR 728,000 nett, suited for a thoughtful gesture; and the Autumn Single Mooncake, available in 8 cm (IDR 268,000 nett) or 6 cm (IDR 168,000 nett) sizes.
