Celebrate 17 years of creativity and cultural heritage with Teater Abnon Jakarta as the renowned theatre community presents a special anniversary performance, 17 Tahun Teater Abnon Berkarya, on Sunday, 10 May 2026 at Atrium Mal Kota Kasablanka, Jakarta. The event marks an important milestone in Teater Abnon Jakarta’s journey as a creative platform for Abang None Jakarta, while continuing its mission to preserve and introduce Betawi culture to younger generations through contemporary performing arts.
Founded in 2009, Teater Abnon Jakarta has consistently combined traditional cultural values with modern artistic expression through theatre, music, dance, and vocal performances. Over the past 17 years, the organisation has become a space for young talents to develop confidence, creativity, collaboration, and appreciation for Jakarta’s cultural identity. This anniversary celebration reflects not only the growth of the theatre group itself, but also the enduring spirit of regeneration and community that has shaped its journey for more than a decade.

The special performance will feature 25 Abang None Jakarta representatives from various generations, regions, and theatre productions, coming together in one collaborative showcase. Audiences can expect a vibrant theatrical presentation combining dance, live music, singing, and dramatic storytelling that traces the evolution of Teater Abnon Jakarta’s productions — from its very first performance, Cinta Dasima in 2009, to its upcoming 17th production, Sangkala 9/10, which is scheduled to premiere in August 2026.
Executive Producer and founder Maudy Koesnaedi expressed pride in the dedication and passion shown by everyone involved in the organisation over the years, both on stage and behind the scenes. She shared that Teater Abnon Jakarta has become more than just a performance platform, serving as a place for artistic learning, personal development, friendship, and cultural appreciation. Through its programmes and productions, the organisation continues to encourage young people to engage with Betawi culture, Jakarta’s history, and the wider creative arts industry.

The celebration is also part of Jakarta Marketing Week, which has collaborated with Teater Abnon Jakarta and Ikatan Abang None Jakarta for more than 12 years. Through creative campaigns, cultural programmes, and promotional activities, the event has helped strengthen the presence of Teater Abnon within Jakarta’s cultural and creative landscape.
As part of the anniversary programme, Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo has been invited as a guest of honour in support of cultural preservation and the development of performing arts in the capital. The celebration will also include the presentation of appreciation plaques to individuals and organisations that have contributed to the growth of Teater Abnon Jakarta over the years, including Hermawan Kartajaya, Betawi artist Atien Kisam, and Renita Sari.

Led by a creative team that includes Maudy Koesnaedi, Betawi artist Atien Kisam, vocal and music director Mia Ismi, and movement director Ufa Sofura, the performance is expected to become one of the cultural highlights of Jakarta Marketing Week 2026. Beyond the stage, the event also reflects ongoing efforts to support Jakarta’s creative economy, particularly within the performing arts sector, by creating productions that inspire local audiences, visitors, and future generations alike.
