Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 Officially Opens Its Open-Air Art Week in Jakarta

Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 officially opened at Hutan Kota by Plataran and will run until 10 May 2026. Now in its fifth edition, the open-air art fair once again brings together contemporary art, Jakarta’s urban landscape, and multidisciplinary public programmes within a green outdoor setting in the heart of the city.

The opening ceremony was attended by Fadli Zon, Giring Ganesha Djumaryo, and Irene Umar. Guests were welcomed by Paramitha Soedarjo and Hafidh Ahmad Irfanda. The ceremony also featured a special performance by TRUST Orchestra and remarks from key partners including Bibit & Stockbit, BCA, Plataran Indonesia, and iForte Energi.

This year’s edition features 26 galleries from Indonesia and across Asia, reflecting the growing interest in Art Jakarta Gardens’ distinctive open-air format. The event also presents 31 sculptures displayed throughout Hutan Kota by Plataran, alongside the participation of five new galleries from Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, and Seoul.

According to Hafidh Ahmad Irfanda, Art Jakarta Gardens continues to strengthen its role as a platform for regional artistic exchange while creating greater international exposure opportunities for Indonesian artists.

As part of Art Jakarta’s 15-year journey initiated by MRA Media, Art Jakarta Gardens continues to expand public engagement with contemporary art. Following the introduction of Art Jakarta Papers earlier this year, the event further reinforces its commitment to developing a dynamic and inclusive art ecosystem.

Paramitha Soedarjo stated that Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 was designed as a space where art and nature can be enjoyed side by side amid the energy of the city. She also highlighted the event’s continued growth through broader gallery participation and public programmes that encourage interaction across communities while strengthening Indonesia’s position within the regional art scene.

Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 is supported by Bibit and BCA as Lead Partners, alongside Plataran Indonesia as Venue Partner, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Creative Economy as Strategic Partners, and MTN Seni Budaya as Cultural Partner. The collaboration highlights the importance of cross-sector support in advancing Indonesia’s contemporary art ecosystem.

Bibit returns for its fourth collaboration with Art Jakarta Gardens through a special presentation with artist Mulyana. The installation, titled Tentacles of Wealth, uses the symbolism of an octopus to explore themes of adaptability and resilience in both art and investment.

Meanwhile, BCA presents myBCA Space with interactive activities including Flazz Your Day, where visitors can personalise their Flazz cards using selected photographs. Visitors can also enjoy various promotional offers, including ticket discounts, cashback programmes, and instalment options for art purchases.

The event’s outdoor identity continues to be shaped by the support of Hutan Kota by Plataran, which once again provides a unique urban forest setting for the exhibition and its public programmes.

During the opening remarks, Irene Umar emphasised the importance of collaboration between the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Creative Economy, and strategic partners in supporting sustainable growth within Indonesia’s art ecosystem.

At the peak of the ceremony, Fadli Zon officially inaugurated Art Jakarta Gardens 2026. He noted that the event provides wider opportunities for Indonesian artists to showcase their works, expand networks, and reach broader audiences. He also described the fair as an important platform for public education and cultural diplomacy, helping strengthen Indonesia’s presence within the global contemporary art landscape.

Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 features both indoor and outdoor presentations throughout Hutan Kota by Plataran. One of its signature highlights, the Sculpture Garden, showcases works that interact with the surrounding urban forest environment through scale, form, and material exploration. Featured artists include Indra Lesmana, Dian Hardiansyah, Tisna Sanjaya, and Yunizar.

The fair also presents a wide range of public programmes, including performances, music, and multidisciplinary presentations. Indonesian musicians and bands such as Ali, BABON, Batavia Collective, and The Cottons will perform throughout the event, with the music programme curated in collaboration with Plainsong Live.

Additional special presentations include Solagua, a solar-powered installation by iForte Energi in collaboration with designer Sigit D. Pratama, exploring the relationship between renewable energy, water, and natural cycles.

Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 opened exclusively for invited guests on 5 May 2026 and is now open to the public until 10 May 2026. As part of Art Jakarta’s annual calendar, the event continues to offer a distinctive open-air art experience that encourages wider public appreciation of contemporary art within Jakarta’s urban landscape.
