Bali
Undoubtedly the most well-known of the Indonesian islands, Bali has been delighting many a traveller for decades. With its perfect mixture of tropical beaches, sacred temples, renowned surf-breaks and friendly locals, it is easy to see why it’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world! The province of Bali is actually made up of the main island as well as three smaller islands off the coast – Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan.
The majority of Indonesia’s Hindu community live on Bali, and this can be seen through the island’s unique culture and beautifully decorated temples. Ceremonies play a big part of Balinese life and are commonly seen throughout the island. The two tallest volcanoes on the island are Mount Agung and Mount Batur which, as a result of past volcanic eruptions, are responsible for the black sandy beaches to the north of the island. With its iconic rice paddies, luxurious villas, bustling beach clubs and stunning waterfalls, it’s easy to see why Bali is known as the Island Of The Gods.
